Auto Refresh Plus (ARP) can deliver monitoring alerts straight to a Slack channel whenever a monitored keyword appears or disappears on a webpage. Whether you're tracking keyword changes, page updates, or other monitored conditions, Slack notifications help keep your team informed in real time.
How to Send Monitoring Alerts to Slack
Setting up Slack alerts requires two steps.
Step 1: Create a Slack Webhook URL
Before Auto Refresh Plus can send notifications to Slack, you must create an Incoming Webhook in Slack.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Slack Incoming Webhooks
- Create a new Slack App
- Enable Incoming Webhooks
- Create and configure a webhook for the Slack channel where you want alerts to appear
- Copy the generated webhook URL
This webhook URL will be used by Auto Refresh Plus to send monitoring alerts directly to your selected Slack channel.
Step 2: Configure Slack Webhook in Auto Refresh Plus
After obtaining the webhook URL:
- Open General Settings
- Go to Notifications
- Select Webhooks
- Click Add Webhook
- Choose Slack as the service type
- Paste the Slack webhook URL
- Save the configuration
Step 3: Enable Slack Alerts for a Page
After creating the webhook:
- Open the Auto Refresh Plus extension
- Go to the Monitor tab
- Enable Receive Webhook Alerts
- Start monitoring the page
Webhook notifications are only sent for pages where webhook alerts are enabled.
What Triggers a Slack Alert?
Slack notifications can be sent when monitoring events occur, including:
- A monitored keyword appears on the page
- A previously detected keyword is no longer present
- Page change detected
When an event is triggered, Auto Refresh Plus sends monitoring data to Slack through the configured webhook.
Important Notes
- A Slack webhook must be configured in General Settings before alerts can be sent
- Webhook alerts must also be enabled from the extension popup for each monitored page
- Both configuration steps are required
- Slack notifications use the Webhook feature, not Email Alerts
Summary
Integrate Auto Refresh Plus with Slack to receive instant monitoring alerts in your workspace. Once a Slack webhook is configured and webhook notifications are enabled for a page, relevant monitoring events will be delivered automatically to the selected channel.
