If clicking or typing on a page does not stop the countdown in Auto Refresh Plus (ARP), it means the User Interaction Behavior setting is not configured to stop or pause the refresh.
How to Fix This
Auto Refresh Plus allows you to control what happens when you interact with a page.
Configure from Popup (Per Website)
- Open the extension
- Scroll down to Refresh Behavior on User Interaction
- Choose one of the following:
- Stop → Completely stops the refresh
- Pause → Temporarily pauses the countdown
- Restart (You can set a custom delay before restarting by entering the number of seconds to wait) → Resets the timer
If none of these are set properly, clicking on the page will not affect the countdown.
Set Default Behavior (All Websites)
You can also apply this globally:
From here you can define how refresh behaves when:
- Clicking
- Scrolling
- Typing
This ensures consistent behavior across all tabs.
Why This Happens
By default, Auto Refresh Plus does not stop refresh on interaction unless configured.
- Clicking alone does not stop refresh
- The behavior depends entirely on the selected interaction setting
Summary
If clicking on a page doesn’t stop the countdown, update the User Interaction Behavior setting. This gives you full control over whether refresh should stop, pause, or continue when interacting with the page.
