Sometimes Page Monitor appears to stop working after a keyword is detected. In most cases, this is expected behavior and is controlled by the monitoring settings configured for that page.
By default, some monitoring setups stop refreshing once the target keyword is found. This prevents unnecessary refreshes after the desired condition has been met.
Why Monitoring Stops After an Alert
When Page Monitor detects a matching keyword, Auto Refresh Plus may:
- Stop the refresh cycle
- Trigger a notification
- Wait for user action
This behavior is useful when you only need to be alerted once, such as when a product becomes available or a specific message appears on the page.
How to Continue Monitoring After Detection
If you want monitoring to continue after a keyword is found:
- Open the Auto Refresh Plus extension
- Go to the Monitor tab
- Enable Continue Refreshing After Alert
- Start monitoring again
When enabled, Auto Refresh Plus will continue refreshing and checking the page even after a keyword match is detected.
Repeated Alerts for the Same Keyword
If monitoring continues after detection, you may receive alerts for the same keyword multiple times.
To control this behavior:
- Enable Skip Repeated Keyword
When enabled, Auto Refresh Plus ignores keywords that were already detected during the previous refresh cycle and helps reduce duplicate alerts.
Important Notes
- Monitoring behavior can be configured per website
- Continue Refreshing After Alert can be enabled from the Monitor tab
- Skip Repeated Keyword helps prevent repeated notifications for unchanged content
- Different pages can use different monitoring settings
Summary
If monitoring stops after an alert, the detected keyword has likely triggered the default monitoring behavior. Enable Continue Refreshing After Alert if you want Auto Refresh Plus to keep monitoring the page after a match is found. You can also use Skip Repeated Keyword to reduce duplicate alerts while monitoring remains active.
