If you want to watch a webpage for updates without specifying keywords, Auto Refresh Plus (ARP) offers a Custom Monitor mode. Rather than searching for particular text, it compares page content after each refresh and notifies you whenever any change is detected.
How to Monitor a Website Without Keywords
Follow these steps:
- Open the Auto Refresh Plus extension
- Go to the Monitor tab
- Under Monitoring Mode, select Custom Monitor
- Configure your refresh interval
- Click Start
Once enabled, Auto Refresh Plus will monitor the page and notify you whenever it detects a change.
When Should You Use This Mode?
Tracking all page changes can be useful when:
- You do not know what content will change
- Website updates are unpredictable
- You want to monitor announcements or status updates
- You need alerts for any modification on a page
- The website does not contain a specific keyword to monitor
Unlike keyword-based monitoring, no target text needs to be configured.
How It Works
During each refresh cycle, Auto Refresh Plus compares the current version of the page with the previous version.
If a difference is detected, the extension triggers an alert based on your notification settings.
This allows you to monitor page updates even when you do not know exactly what content will change.
Important Notes
- No keywords are required when using Custom Monitor
- Any detected page change can trigger an alert
- This mode monitors overall page changes rather than specific text
- You can combine it with notification features such as push notifications, email alerts, or webhooks
Summary
With Custom Monitor, Auto Refresh Plus keeps watch over webpages even when there are no specific keywords to track. By checking the page after every refresh, it can instantly notify you whenever any content is modified.
