If you are getting false alerts in Auto Refresh Plus (ARP), it is usually due to how Page Monitor detects changes, especially when using advanced detection methods.
Why This Happens
Page Monitor can detect changes in two different ways:
- Visual Detection (Match Visible Text) → Monitors visible content (text, layout, images)
- Source Code Detection (Match HTML Source) → Monitors underlying HTML, scripts, and structure
False alerts often occur when Match HTML Source is used.
- Even small background changes can trigger alerts
- Scripts, ads, or dynamic elements may update frequently
- These changes may not be visible on the page
How to Fix False Alerts
Use Visual Detection (Recommended)
- Open the extension popup
- Go to Monitor section
- Find Scan Method
- Select Match Visible Text
This focuses only on what you actually see on the page and reduces unnecessary alerts.
Avoid Full Page Change Monitoring (If Not Needed)
- Using Track Any Change can trigger alerts for minor updates
- Instead, use specific keywords for better accuracy
Use More Precise Keywords
- Avoid generic terms
- Use exact phrases like:
- “In Stock”
- “Available Now”
This reduces unwanted triggers.
Important Notes
- Match HTML Source is intended for advanced users
- Dynamic websites often update background elements frequently
- Visual Detection is recommended for most use cases
Summary
False alerts usually happen when Page Monitor detects minor background changes. Switching to Visual Detection and using precise keywords helps ensure accurate and meaningful alerts.
