When monitoring fast-changing websites, important updates can appear and disappear within seconds. Auto Refresh Plus includes a Real-Time Detection feature that continuously checks for monitored keywords while a page is refreshing, allowing alerts to be triggered as soon as a match is found.
How to Enable Real-Time Detection
Follow these steps:
- Open the Auto Refresh Plus extension
- Go to the Monitor tab
- Scroll down to the advanced monitoring options
- Enable Real-Time Detection
- Configure your target keyword or monitoring rule
- Click Start
Once enabled, Auto Refresh Plus will monitor the page during the refresh process instead of waiting until the refresh cycle has fully completed.
How Real-Time Detection Works
Normally, keyword detection occurs after a refresh cycle finishes.
With Real-Time Detection enabled:
- The page is monitored while content is loading
- Keywords are checked continuously during the refresh process
- Alerts can trigger as soon as a match appears
- Detection does not need to wait for the refresh cycle to complete
This helps improve response time when monitoring rapidly changing pages.
When Should You Use Real-Time Detection?
Real-Time Detection is useful when updates may only be visible for a short period.
Common examples include:
- Product restocks
- Ticket releases
- Flash sales
- Limited-time offers
- Fast-moving listings
By detecting changes immediately, you can reduce the delay between a website update and the alert being triggered.
Important Notes
- Real-Time Detection is configured per website
- The feature is available from the Monitor tab in the extension popup
- It works together with existing Page Monitor rules
- For websites that load content slowly, consider using Wait for Content to Load alongside Real-Time Detection
Summary
Real-Time Detection allows Auto Refresh Plus to identify keyword matches while a page is actively refreshing. Enable the feature from the Monitor tab to receive faster alerts when monitoring websites where updates can appear and disappear quickly.
